The river now enters the Weaver navigation, deepening here, roach and bream make up the bulk of the match weights , either pole or feeder working.
The canalisation of the river weaver from here downwards was completed in 1732
to aid the expanding salt industry in transporting goods to and from winsford.
Historical maps of this area and the whole river can be found in our history section on the 'about us' page. Also a favourite with the pike anglers as fish to near 30lb can be present following the shoals. Carp are also present to over 20lb. The Red Lion pub is the start to the Weaver valley parkway and leads the angler down through the park alongside the river. Parts of the Weaver parkway may be used from time to time for public events such as festivals. All attempts will be made to post any dates on here as and when known. The Red Lion provide quality meals and may be able
to provide rooms if you plan to travel any distance. Day tickets are available on the bank.

Access is from the rear of the Red lion pub or from the rangers cabin
near morrisons( be aware this is a long walk so a trolley or barrow is needed! ) .

All anglers fishing the association pools and rivers, have the right ,whenever questioned by a bailiff of the association, to request that the bailiff also is able to show his/her card.
